because this is how I feel lately.
I ran 4 miles today, it was awesome :)
but i’m unfortunately working a double shift tomorrow, and if I even find the daylight to workout…I likely will not have the energy.
Is anyone else feeling this way??

pommier asked: HUGE congrats on running your first half marathon :) you're an inspiration! I decided today that I'm upping my running, and am aiming to complete a 14k run this time next year for charity. I'll be watching your blog more regularly from now on, it gives me that enthusiasm to get up off my bum and run, despite battling hypos etc :) keep going, you champion.
THANK YOU! :D It was awesome, truly something everyone should experience. I really found out what i’m made of; steel and sugar :)
It was a little awkward with my diabetes… I didn’t take any insulin the morning of the race, I checked my sugar every 1 or 2 miles, and had to bring a few Cliff bars/ protein bars. Even with NO insulin in my body I still went low from that much running & needed to snack :p
I totally encourage you doing the 14k! My biggest advice is just to be prepared! Give yourself sufficient training, ALWAYS have enough carbs on you & your sugar machine. The rest is all mental :)
& thanks for following :D it’s followers like you who keep me on here hehe :} I love getting mail!
I have a 10k Nov24, another half-marathon Dec 4, and a 10k Dec 17 :) I’ll try to keep everyone posted!
romans-1221 asked: I'm entirely jealous of your diabetic boyfriend. Haha, this sounds totally weird and a little creepy but yeah. Guys I meet are really turned off by diabetes.
Aww thank you :) It’s not creepy at all!
I remember knowing who he was before I even met him and being overly curious; i’d never met a boy with diabetes before. A new friend found out that I have diabetes and says “oh that’s crazy, so does Jacob!” Well, I didn’t want to run up to this Jacob guy and be like “I HAVE DIABETES TOO!” so I pretended like I didn’t know when I met him…. but he knew I had diabetes and he was allllll about that xD Well anyway, we didn’t talk much during high school, even though he was head-over-heels about me, I wasn’t interested cause I was a snooty 9th grader xD but after we graduated we ended up meeting up again, we were both more mature, and clicked right away :) Sometimes I think It’s kind of a coincidence that we’re both diabetic, but then other times I think it’s not. It does make our relationship stronger. We do understand each other ALOT better than the other people in our lives. Even my mom, my gramma, my close family, will concern themselves with my diabetes, (and same with his side) when they don’t understand what it’s like. And you can’t blame them for it… they try to understand, but it’s not the same as having it. I remember on one of our first dates, we were at the movies and he checked his sugar, it was about 400. He was like “ohhh don’t worry about it,” but he forgets, I know how horrible that feels. I said “I had to go to the bathroom” and went to get him a giant Dasani water bottle. (; See, we take care of each other and it isn’t a chore because it’s instinct. Other people we’ve dated… just kind of disregarded the diabetes, or thought it was weird. But he knows if i’m ever acting weird, i’m not “being a crazy bitch” like other guys thought, I probably just need some insulin.
I don’t know how I ever dated any other guy. Like honestly, I could easily find another guy with diabetes, but they could never be as strong and loving as my Jacob. There is no other boy for me, and the diabetes is just a bonus I guess :p
I’ve heard there’s diabetes date sites & stuff, but idk i’m leery about date sites. Just keep single girl, you’ll find the right guy one day! I read an article the other day about a woman who’s non-diabetic husband can totally tell what her sugar is all the time. It’s just hard to find people who are open minded like that, but they’re out there, don’t give up! This disease is soooo much easier when you’ve got people that support you
a-mor-e-deactivated20111207 asked: Hi Alisha! My name is Michelle, im 19 and have been type 1 for 4 years now..i was diagnosed sophomore year of high school so i consider myself "still adapting" I know everyone is different but I need some advice/guidance! I love to run but find my sugars arent always ideal when I want to run or go low in the middle of my run. I want to run a half marathon but dont know if my sugars will drop in the middle of the race! any advice?
Hi Michelle :D So i’m kindof a dummy when it comes to Tumblr, I have no idea when you submitted this, & sorry if it’s taken me a long time to get back to you.
I’m glad you asked :) My best advise for long runs is to bring a fanny pack (goofy I know, but I do it xD) with your sugar machine, and some high carb & high protein bars, like Cliff bars, in case you go low. Personally, i’m always on the low side, so that’s what I do. Try to have a watch also, and check every 30min or so. Honestly, I haven’t even perfected the long run without going low, I just try to prepare for it. I had a 10k about a month ago, I went below 50 and didn’t feel low, just weak. Like I was running as fast as I could but people were still passing me. It’s dangerous, I know, but seriously if anything doesn’t feel right, even if you don’t feel like your sugar is low, check it. It happens to me all the time. Plus, if you’re training for a certain race, try to train at that time of day when the race will be if you can, so you know what to expect. I made the error with my last race of training around 9:30, but the race was at 7:30, which I think is another reason I had a lil trouble with my sugars.
Anyway, I have my first half marathon this Sunday, so i’ll let you know how it goes :)
alchemysecrets asked: im a type one and a runner too! my blog doesnt reflect it but im so happy to find your blog!
THAT RULES!!!! :D hehe I think i’ve ever only talked to one other diabetic runner, but seriously there’s hundreds; it’s just rare. I feel bad I never get on here, i’m in college & working so I rarely have time for Tumblr, but I try to update when I can xD I actually have my first half-marathon this Sunday i’m kinda nervous about it, but also excited :) but anyway, that’s totally cool you’re running with your diabetes, keep it up :)
